How to Increase Your Google Adsense CTR (2)

Monday, June 30th, 2008

This is the second part of two series of articles about How to Increase Your Google Adsense CTR. Here are some other tips to increase your Google Adsense CTR:

  1. Place an image near your ads because user tends to look at this section.
  2. Use channel to track your ads performance.
  3. Include Google Search Box in your website. Though it will not drastically increase your CTR, it’s still worth to be used. Around 3% of my monthly income comes from Google Search Box. What I love about this facility is that it shortens my development process. I don’t have to develop my own search facility and let Google handles it!
  4. Do not click your own ads, or ask people to click it. Believe me, Google will be able to detect those illegal clicks and they will ban your Adsense account if you do it. In fact, I even suggest you emailing Google if you find out your CTR is “abnormal” (above 30%). Ask them to investigate it, in case one of your competitors tries to ruin your reputation.
  5. Increase your traffic. There are many ways to increase your traffic; firstly you have to do SEO (Search Engine Optimization), then submitting your website to several search engines, directories, free articles directories, doing link baiting, and many more. I will discuss all these techniques in another article.
  6. Many people suggest targeting high paying keywords. But I won’t recommend the same thing because I’m sure you will face bloody competition to reach the top position in SERPS (Search Engine Result Pages). Believe me, there are thousands of people who also think like you do. I would prefer to use popular keywords that many people search in Google and there are not many competitors (let’s say, 200 ?” 400 searches a day with total competitors below 500,000). These maybe are not high paying keywords (they usually only pay $0.1 - $1/click); but imagine if you can get 1000 page views/day with 3% CTR, you already get $3 - $30/day! (for a new publisher, this is a very good start).
  7. Being specific. If you have many interests, do not put them into a single website. You better create several websites for each of them. For example, you like baking cake, cooking and gardening. Do not put them together into a single website because it will make it too general. You better create three different websites for each of them. This will make them more specific, has more targeted visitors and your keywords will not be diluted.
  8. Learn what “masters” say. You will find many valuable tips by joining Google Adsense forum such as http://forums.digitalpoint.com.
  9. Be patient. If you are a new Google Adsense publisher, please remember one thing: BE PATIENT. You won’t become a millionaire within a night. Everything takes time (unless you already have a huge amount of traffic).

How To Use Content for Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Use your keywords in your headlines with proper HEADING tags. Search engines pay special attention to the information within H1, H2, H3 tags. Put your most important keywords and information in your H1 tag. Start your page content as close to the top of the page as possible.

(Note: The above “tags” are not using any brackets due to the fact that this site does not allow HTML in it’s articles. If you need to learn basic HTML please check out the following site for more information regarding HTML: www.w3schools.com/html/)

Start your first paragraph with a sentence that contains some of your keywords. For a page from www.worldwidemusic.com, the keyword “music” could be used about 10 times. Make sure that your content makes sense and use your keywords as you would in speaking to a person in conversation.

Hyper-link your keywords; for example, “click here for more information about Brazilian Music” with the keywords “Brazilian Music” as the anchor text or hyper link.

Not all search engine robots are created equal; the menu or navigation panel on your site is what they use to get to your other pages, creating a complex java script menu looks pretty to the human eye, but to some robots it might be complicated for them to navigate.

Solution: create a keyword text link navigation bar at the bottom of the page so that all of your pages make their way into the index. This encourages your visitors to explore other pages and using keywords as the hyper-links on your navigation bar or menu highlights them again for the search engine robots.

Create an XML site map here: http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ .

and upload it to your web hosting server. Then go to: http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ to register it with Google and get site activity information.

Remember that Content is king and the SE’s love it. Treat your content right and it will return the favor!

Effective Internet Advertising

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Two of the most popular and successful advertising techniques on the Internet are pay per click campaigns and natural search engine optimization campaigns. If your company is not competing at the level it should be, perhaps it is time you looked into focusing more of your time and efforts into Internet advertising techniques that are successful. You will not only get the best results with a carefully designed system for generating Internet advertising for your blog, but you will also be able to sustain good results over a long period of time, which is what serious business and successful entrepreneurship is all about.

With a good well designed selling system in place, not only will you be able to get the best results while generating Internet advertising for your blog, but success will be virtually guaranteed. This difference with blog advertising rates is important because in the print media world, ad rates can not go below a certain point because if they do, the publication will cease to be profitable. In the print media, space is limited by the cost of production which keeps ad rates high and makes the balance of content versus advertising critical to the financial success of any print publication that relies on advertising.

Free internet advertising makes it easy for you to put free ads on several of the premier quality web sites whenever you want, for free. You know that you are visiting the forum merely for the free advertising for your website but it is better not to make this obvious if you want other members to react well to your advertising. Internet forum etiquette demands that you spend a little time “lurking” ie logging in at the forum and reading previous and current threads before you even think of starting to use the forum for advertising.

Whether you write your own articles or pay a ghostwriter to write your articles for you, the combined cost of creating and distributing your article is far less than the value of advertising that you will receive in exchange for the reprint use of your article. When you write articles that are consistent with the topics that your potential clientele will read, you are able to consistently target the people you need to reach with your advertising. If an advertiser is already paying 20 cents per click and your blog Internet advertising rate card charges them what works out to about 5 cents per click and there is a promise of the same or an even better conversion rate, you have won over that advertiser.

I have been paying for traffic and one of the best sources of targeted traffic is through pay per click search engines (PPC) or pay for placement search alternatives like Google AdWords or Yahoo Sponsor Listings, formerly Overture. Google AdWords and Yahoo Sponsor Listings are the kings of pay per placement search engines. And if you are in a highly competitive niche, the cost per visitor in pay per click search engines is pumping up day by day.

How To Research Web Hosting Before Choosing Your Host

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

When you’re looking for a hosting company for your website, a web hosting guide can help you compare the services from the various hosts. Being able to do this research in one place will save you a lot of time compared to visiting each host’s site separately.

Before you start your research, you should decide on what your hosting needs really are. Do you need 10GB of storage or would 1GB be plenty? How much data are you really likely to transfer in a given month? Do you need to choose Unix or Windows for some reason, or does it not really matter?

Having an idea of your needs ahead of time will make it a lot easier to narrow down the right hosting plan.

Some of the other factors you should consider include:

- Email accounts, forwarding and aliases

- URL redirects

- FTP access

- FTP accounts - both public and private

- Web-based control panel

- Subdomains

- Autoresponders

- Shopping cart software

- Pre-installed software (blogs, forums, etc.)

Once you know what your needs are, you can start comparing hosting plans. You can use Google, Yahoo or another search engine to find a good comparison site - just search for “web hosting comparison” or something similar. (And if you’re not sure what your needs are in the first place, take a look at a site like www.hostingreport.org to help you work out your requirements.)

Once you find a decent hosting comparison site, you can compare packages from multiple hosts to see which ones meets your need at the best price.

Most of these comparison sites also include reviews, both by the people who maintain the site and often by users as well. These reviews can be invaluable when choosing your hosting company because they come from real people who have had experience with the host.

If the host has a history of problems, the user reviews will reveal that to you. This is something you would never find out just by reading the hosting company’s website.

Hosting comparison sites also sometimes have speed test results from the various hosts. This will help you to see how good the host’s performance is, and will give you an idea of how scalable your site will be if hosted there.

You want to be sure that your site can grow effectively as you get more visitors and more traffic. Choosing a host based on price and features alone can cause a lot of headaches down the road if you have to change hosts when you outgrow them.

Email Marketing is Impression Marketing

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

There is no such thing as 100% response to email marketing ?” even if you were giving your merchandise away (with free shipping).

You have to understand that not even your most loyal customers are going to fully review every email-marketing item you send.

Those that do read the email from your business may not be at a place where they need your product or service at the tie you send it.

So what is the point in continuing to send email marketing items if there is only a relatively small chance of response?

The primary reason for email marketing is what I like to call ?Impression Marketing??. The email you send may hit a few people at the right time and a purchase is taken care of. However, in most cases the end user is left with another impression of your business (even if they don??t actually open the email). Since this is true you should always make sure the subject line includes the name of your business first followed by a compelling title for the email message.

Because we all receive a variety of spam messages the use of your business name gives the email added weight in the eyes of the recipient. They may not read it, but they are likely to be less hostile to email from someone they have done business with before. Besides it gets your name before the customers again.

Impression Marketing is a bit like Search Engine Optimization (SEO). In both cases you do a lot of hard work with very little in the way of immediate results. In both cases these two marketing functions take a long-range view knowing there will come a time when the hard work will pay off.

Impression Marketing takes your efforts and brings results much later than you expect. While that may sound bad, it also brings results that are often far greater than your effort.

This can be seen in the planting of a corn seed. The single seed grows into a stalk that can produce more than one ear of corn. The net result is a yield of hundreds of kernels of corn in exchange for the one kernel planted. Again, the corn doesn??t produce a stock and fully developed ears overnight, but it does provide a great return ?” given time.

The same is true for Impression Marketing. When you give it time and consistently maintain that long-range view the use of SEO and email marketing begin to make sense. You may not see the traffic you hope for immediately, but you may be able to view your stats in the future and see that looking long range is a great way to prepare for your future.

MLM Training - Four Tips on How to Use the Mass Media for Zero Cost Publicity

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

MLM Training: All mlm business owners, both online and offline, could benefit from more publicity. As many business owners know, getting publicity through advertising can be expensive. Not only can advertising and marketing be costly, businesses have to be better than their competitors. After all, everyone knows the best marketer always wins! So, how can this be done without blowing a budget? The secret is free publicity through the mass media of radio, TV, Internet, and newsprint.

Using mass media can enable a business to reach a huge number of people at one shot. Imagine what would happen if a business were the topic of a popular radio talk show, had a spot on the Today show, Oprah, or Larry King! What would be the result if a business was on the front page of the business section in USA today? Are you beginning to get the picture? One appearance and you could be set for life!

Here are four mlm training tips on how to get free mass media publicity for your business.

1. Use the News Search Engines. The news search engines are Yahoo, Google, and Topics.net. Everything that happens in our world, in case you haven’t noticed, ends up on the Internet. Information about any topic can be easily obtained by typing in a keyword. For example, if you wanted to search on a news topic related to your business on Google, you would go to news.google.com. Next, you would type in your keyword and then click on the links that show up about various stories. What is nice about this is that you will find reporters who have written stories in your area of interest in newspapers, TV, press releases, etc. With just one click, many times you will find information to contact them. One excellent method to use when contacting a journalist is offering a tip list. Journalists love tip lists since they are easy to plug in for stories they are working on. Plus, any free information is always appreciated!

You will also find that some journalists have a comments box. This is a huge gift to the business owner who wants to get free publicity. In that comment box you can talk about how you read their story, what you thought about it, and then offer the reporter additional tips. This also is a way to get to know them and if you continue to do this, be viewed as an expert resource.

Another great thing you can do is to sign up for News Alerts with Google and Yahoo. From the home pages of these search engines, all you need to do is to click on the link, give your email address, and then type in the keywords you are targeting. Google and Yahoo will then send you daily, weekly, or monthly (based on your preferences), all the stories that come across the Internet related to your business interest. This will give you a huge edge in finding reporters to contact.

2. Go to the home websites for publications such as USA Today, The Washington Times, Boston Globe, New York Times, and other major newsprint publications. Next, type in your keyword of interest. You will find a wealth of information and reporters who you can start building a relationship with.

3. Here is another mlm training tip that can bring great rewards: write a press release. For many people, just the thought of a press release can be intimidating. The truth is, they are not that difficult if you know what you are doing. All you would need to do is to study some that are well written, and then use the same elements and same order in the right format. When done right, a press release can result in a huge amount of traffic to an online business site or even more phone calls to an offline business. To study two well-crafted press releases, go to http://www.publicitygoldmine.com/stinkyfeet, and http://www.publicitygold.com/snakeoil/

One excellent online press release resource to use is Prweb.com. This company is one of many online press release distribution services. They have access to all the major search engines such as Google and Yahoo Keep in mind that PR web won’t let just any junk go through (poor English, sentences don’t make sense, etc.) after all they do have editors who will view press releases before distribution, but they are very open to press releases of “how to topics”, tip lists, and the like. In other words, your press release doesn’t have to be hard news.

What is great about PR web is that they will distribute your release for free. If you want to track statistics, receive extra support and help from an editor, and get even more exposure, all you would need to do is to make a contribution. Press releases are a great way to get publicity for little to no cost! For more information about press releases, visit http://www.publicitygoldmine.com/internet-publicity/

4. Start Blogging. If you can market your business through a blog, it would be a very valuable tool for your business. Google’s Blogger.com enable you to set up a blog for free. Blogs are a great way to attract attention and to get your business out in front of lots of people.

The key to a blog is not being bland and boring. People love it when blogs are controversial. When I say controversial, I do not mean raising issues about race and religion. Being controversial is just being yourself, showing your personality, and not being afraid to state your opinions about issues. Use a blog to get a good discussion going and as a tool to stay connected with your readers. Telling stories, talking about newsworthy subjects, and then linking the blog to your business is a great way to drive traffic to your site or to increase phone calls to your offline store. The message here is to start blogging right away!

Getting free publicity is within every business online and offline business owner’s reach. Use these four mlm training tips and watch your business grow like it has never before.

Everyone knows that Google has simply dominated the web and that this company continues to strive for excellence. They have changed the way people use search engines on a day to day basis. Now for you webmasters who are established already in the seo world, Google adsense can add to the income you already bring in with your companies website or to your blog or whatever it may be. Google will give code for you to input into your site that will create adds that will post on your site. The cool thing is every time you get a visitor and they click on the ad on your page you make money. Google Adsense kindly keeps track of your clicks and pays accordingly. It is as simple as that, really! Think about it, if you already have traffic coming in abundance you can not lose. Sometimes visitors may not want the product your offering. Why not give them a chance to make you money by simply clicking on an ad? Believe me, many people are dying for a chance to get advertised on your site, especially if you have alot of traffic coming in monthly.

Lastly, it wouldn’t hurt visiting the site and just browse around to see if you would be possibly interested. Why miss out on what I call free money. Visit us today, learn more about adsense.

How To Maximize Your Earnings With Google Adsense

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

After earning tens of thousands of dollars from Google Adsense I am going to go over the tactics that have worked for me in maximizing my Google Adsense income.

Where you place your Adsense adverts is one of the most significant factors that you need to consider when designing your web page. Adverts placed above the fold will receive more attention and consequently will generate more clicks.

You also need to look at the best performing ad formats to use. Historically the 336×280, then the 300×250 have worked very well for me. After these two formats I would rate the 160×600 wide skyscraper as the next best format. The reason these ad formats work so well is that they look similar to content.

After the placement and ad format the color of the ads are the next most significant in increasing your Google Adsense earnings. You need to avoid colors that make the adverts contrast too much or induce blindness. Use a white background and make the color of the advert the same as the text color of your web page. This is to make the advert look like content. It is preferable to have blue as the color of text as a blue text link is more likely to be clicked as people are conditioned to blue hyperlinks.

You also need to experiment with the adverts on your web site. No two web sites are alike and what may work on one may not work on another. This largely depends on the type of audience and their web behaviour patterns.

Links represent an additional way of earning money from Google Adsense. If the adverts are not directly related to the content you can earn money money from the link units which represent different categories that are similar to the content. I have found the best results to be when you include the link units in your navigation scheme so that they look part of the menu.

As soon as you start applying these Google Adsense tips your revenue will increase.

Marketing - 3 Secrets to Leaving An Understandable Voice Mail Message

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

After my third attempt to de-code the phone number from my voice mail ? I gave up. Seems Frank Janson ? Johnson ? Jorson or something like that from some company in Mauzoula or Missouri wants me to call him back. His number is 636-6 something, four, 36 or maybe it??s 3 zero then 6, 8 then something. Whatever! Point is, I??m not calling him back. And if he ever does get a hold of me, I??ll be less than enthusiastic about dealing with him since he??s already wasted my time and caused me a fair amount of frustration by leaving a message I can??t understand. He has what I call a Verbal Legibility factor of zero.

Where I come from, the whole point of leaving a phone number is to make it easy for people to call you back. But too often, the person leaving the message is too bored, tired, lazy or in a hurry to put a cohesive, understandable sentence together. Or they try to be cute with the way they say 55 triple 4 oh 2. Is that 50 then 5 or is it 55? And by the way, it??s a zero not an “oh”.

If effectiveness suffers because of speed, laziness or boredom, then the time you spend leaving the message is wasted, as is the time of the person for whom you left the message. It doesn’t matter what your job or walk of life is ?” phone calls sales, management, civil servant, CSR?” if you waste peoples’ time it effects on some level how they view you.

It seems silly to tell people to speak clearly and slowly. But an enormous number of people talk way too fast, way to soft, talk ??mush-mouthed? or combine 2 or more of these traits to create a message they themselves couldn??t possibly understand. So yes, while it seems silly ? I??ll do it anyway. “At the tone, PLEASE, speak clearly and slowly.” It should take you between 8 and 10 seconds to say the number so that it is understandable. 16 to 20 seconds to say it twice.

Secret #1 to ensure your number is understandable. While you say your number ?” write it … neatly. Say your number NO FASTER than you can write it. Then repeat it. If you have no writing utensil, pretend to write it in the air.

Secret #2: Leave your phone number at the beginning of the message. In the event your target doesn??t get your number the first time they hear it, they don??t have to listen back through your whole boring message to get it.

Secret#3: Record yourself some day when you??re busy returning phone calls, making calls and leaving messages. Or, call yourself and leave a message. Then critique it. Then have a co-worker critique it.

These three little secrets can help increase your verbal legibility, make better use of your target’s time and increase your call-back rate. Listen to yourself ? you just might learn something.

A Little Mistake in Google AdWords that’s Costing You 17% Extra Per-Click

Friday, June 27th, 2008

There??s a very simple, free way to boost the performance of your Google Pay-Per-Click (PPC) ads. Yet look in almost any category of PPC ads and you??ll see most advertisers aren??t using it. Why?

Which of the following two ads gives you the most useful information?

“Women??s Water Shoes
Go Stylish! Ultra-Light. Anti-Slip.
Lady Form-Fit. Funky fabrics. Save.”

or?

“Women??s Water Shoes
Go Stylish! Ultra-Light. Anti-Slip.
Lady Form-Fit. Funky fabrics $17.87″

The second ad pulled significantly more buyers than the first. The only difference is the inclusion of price in the second ad.

Because of its greater attractiveness, and the way that Google rewards ads with a greater Quality Score, the average per-click cost was 17% less for the second ad. That??s a huge saving in a market where you need every advantage you can grab.

The second ad resulted in a campaign that brought increasing numbers of buyers. Buyers who knew a great deal about the client’s product (women??s water shoes) before they had even clicked on the ad. What??s more, there are other great benefits of putting price in your ad text. What are they?

- Potential buyers are less likely to click on your ad if they??re unwilling to pay the price you??re asking. This is actually to your advantage, as it saves you money; you avoid expensive clicks from time-wasters.

- Your ad is likely to attract significantly more attention than competing ads which aren??t providing price information.

But what if you’ve a number of products or varieties on a single web-page, and it??s impossible to create one ad covering them all? Break your ads down into more targeted groups. And mention the item’s price in each ad. This is an under-used strategy that costs you absolutely nothing.

After you??ve decided to include price in your ad text, the next question to ask yourself is this; what price should I display?

Here??s the interesting result of a study by legendary marketer and copywriter Ted Nicholas, who has tested pricing extensively;

Ted reports that prices ending in the number 7 work better than any other number. For example, instead of $ 8.99, try $ 8.97 (or even better - $ 8.87).

Rather than $179, try $187.

You??re likely to find your response improves by using this simple technique alone. Who else knows this? Go down to your local Wal-Mart (you??d expect them to know a thing or two about prices that work).

Take a look at their prices. How many end in the number 7?

There??s a reason the number 7 is considered lucky by most people. Try it yourself - you might be pleasantly surprised. See if 7’s a winning digit for you, in your quest for that ever-critical Google advertising edge.
